Job GoalSupport students in a kindergarten setting by working with classroom teachers to implement curriculum, behavior support, and individualized instruction.
Qualifications- Education: High School diploma or GED
- Professional Certification: None required
- Specialized Knowledge: Thorough understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice principles as they relate to student and staff engagement.
- Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and Power School preferred; training will be provided.
- Demonstrated aptitude for the duties performed in a paraprofessional role
- Bilingual skills, especially Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
- Passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
- Flexibility and collaboration in a fast‑paced environment
- Multitasking and meeting time‑sensitive deadlines
- Organization and meeting ongoing priorities
Alternative degrees/experience may substitute for the above at the discretion of the Superintendent.
Tools and Equipment Used- Phone, intercom, personal computer, scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers, fax machine, and related software applications.
The following duties are required for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Additional duties may be assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.
- Work with students individually and in small groups to review and reinforce lessons.
- Assist teachers in addressing the special needs of individual students.
- Accompany students during transitions as needed.
- Administer or assist with alternative testing, including classroom, district, and state assessments.
- Correct day‑to‑day student work while not responsible for grading or reporting to parents.
- Carry out teacher‑planned learning exercises, including core curriculum instruction and support of speech, language, occupational, physical therapies, and mobility training.
- Participate in staff development and consultation with special education staff.
- Implement individual behavior support plans.
- Establish effective working relationships with classroom teachers, specialists, and administration.
- Perform classroom tasks as directed by supervising teacher, principal, or staff coordinator.
- Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
- Collect and record accurate data on student academics, behavior, and progress toward goals.
- Support students in developing communication, social, and academic skills.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain consistent behavior supports.
- Engage in district‑provided safety and care training as identified by administration.
- Assist with life‑skills development, such as eating, cleaning, and toileting, when required.
- Participate in the removal of systemic barriers to equitable access for students, families, and staff.
Physical Requirements
- Move about the classroom, school, office, and off‑site locations.
- Remain in a stationary position for periods of time.

- Read materials from a monitor or printed matter with or without visual aids.
