Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter with rotating machinery experience to join our Technical Services team.
You will support projects across the UK, as well as internationally and offshore, delivering high‑quality electrical testing and site engineering services. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a varied environment and enjoys hands‑on technical work in challenging and dynamic project settings.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities- Ensure the overall safety of the QE team and all activities undertaken on site.
- Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure safe and compliant working practices.
- Monitor progress against the project plan and develop mitigations for any delays or potential slippage.
- Manage working hours and shift patterns in line with client agreements to maintain project timelines.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Responsible Engineer to ensure all check sheets and quality records are prepared prior to mobilisation.
- Ensure all check sheets and documentation are completed accurately and returned to Rugby daily, with any items requiring review clearly identified.
- Maintain regular communication with client representatives while on site.
- Complete daily logs at the end of each shift and submit to Rugby each evening.
- Compile final project reports accurately and within required time frames.
- Uphold and promote the client’s positive perception of Quartzelec’s high-quality standards for both on-site and workshop-based work.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Experience as a fitter or winder.
- Time-served background with a college‑level technical qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years’ site project experience working on rotating electrical machines.
- Knowledge of medium and large rotating electrical machinery (High Voltage), including AC and DC motors and generators.
- Experience in electrical testing—both high and low voltage testing of electrical rotating machines (advantageous).
- Professional, presentable and courteous conduct at all times.
- Clear, assertive communication skills with strong coordination with the Project Manager.
- Effective planning and execution of work activities.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally at short notice.
