Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Du Bois
We are looking for a Controls / Electrical Engineer to take ownership of controls and electrical systems for a growing line of complex industrial equipment within our Magnet Systems group. This is not a narrow programming role. It requires a mix of controls, electrical problem-solving, and practical engineering judgment. This role will play a key part in shaping and scaling a standardized controls and electrical architecture for next‑generation equipment.
The right person will be comfortable operating in an environment with multiple inputs, limited structure, and a need to balance short‑term execution with long‑term improvement.
- Ownership of controls and electrical systems for Magnet Systems equipment
- PLC/HMI development, integration, and troubleshooting
- Supporting development of a standardized controls and electrical architecture
- Diagnosing problems that may cross controls, electrical, and mechanical boundaries
- Working with customers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues
- Supporting both new equipment and existing installed systems
- Travel is required for startup, commissioning, and customer support
- Strong experience with industrial controls (PLC/HMI development and troubleshooting)
- Ability to work across multiple platforms (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or similar)
- Solid understanding of electrical systems (power, circuits, and troubleshooting)
- Ability to read and develop electrical schematics
- Takes full ownership of electrical and controls architecture and drives problems through to resolution with limited day‑to‑day direction
- Comfortable working in ambiguous situations with incomplete information
- Able to operate independently while coordinating with multiple stakeholders
- Able to represent the company professionally when working with customers and partners
- Willingness to travel and support systems in the field when needed
- Experience with high‑current systems, motors, coils, or power electronics
- Exposure to multiple controls platforms beyond a single OEM
- Experience with SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition)
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and system integration
- Experience contributing to or leading standardization of controls platforms or electrical architectures
- Background in custom equipment, low‑volume manufacturing, or system integration
- Experience working directly with customers or in field service roles
- Exposure to working with external vendors or international partners
- Experience with magnetic systems, heating systems, or other physics‑driven equipment
- Familiarity with simulation tools or modeling (electrical, thermal, or similar)
- Prior experience in a role requiring both engineering and field support
