Tilcon Connecticut Inc., a CRH company, is a leading supplier of quality crushed stone, hot mix asphalt, and ready‑mix concrete. We support construction projects across Connecticut from 23 locations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position involves operating various pieces of equipment used in the construction division including, but not limited to, excavators, bulldozers, front‑end loaders, skid steers, asphalt and dirt rollers, and transfer machines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSOperating equipment used in support of the construction and paving operations.
QUALIFICATIONS- Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to work in daytime and nighttime conditions.
Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA and state agencies. Protective equipment that may be required includes hard hat, safety glasses, reinforced to‑ed shoes, hand protection, safety vest/high‑visibility clothing for any work in the field, and hearing protection.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe employee must lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Frequently: 0–10 lbs, 10–25 lbs, 25–50 lbs. Occasionally: 50–75 lbs.
The employee regularly requires talking, hearing, sitting, walking, standing, climbing, crawling, bending, kneeling, reaching above shoulders, and lifting up to 75 pounds for periods of time. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus while operating equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, outdoors in cold or icy conditions, and exposed to wet or humid conditions. Noise levels may be high.
