Location: Haddon Heights

Pennoni is hiring Graduate Civil Engineers to join our Transportation Engineering team on a full‑time, direct basis. We have needs in each of the disciplines listed below.

Highway Engineer

Job Responsibilities
  • Participate in the development of engineering design projects, while working in a team environment to produce engineering plans, documents, and reports.
  • Review and apply standard engineering design principles.
  • Implement the use of 3‑D modelling software for transportation infrastructure projects while utilizing tools like Micro Station, InRoads, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D.
  • Contribute to developing sets of transportation infrastructure plans (including highway design, hydrology, drainage calculations, SWM/E&SC design, water and sanitary sewer utility layout, MOT plans, and geometry).
  • Support projects and tasks of various sizes for a variety of clients, including state agencies, counties, and local municipalities.
Highway Engineer

Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic understanding of engineering design parameters.
  • Relevant experience with highway geometry development, water resources design, or overall plan preparation.
  • Exposure to modeling tools such as Open Roads.
  • Experience working with highway and/or roadway design.
  • Experience working with drainage design, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control; completion of Certified Construction Review training.
  • Exposure to Bluebeam Revu and/or GIS tools.
Bridge Engineer

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist with the structural analysis and/or design of bridges (highway & railroad), culverts, retaining walls, and overhead sign structures on a variety of projects, including bridge replacement/rehabilitation and highway improvement.
  • Supplement the bridge design functions with involvement in NBIS Bridge inspections across the Pennoni footprint on an as‑needed basis, with occasional opportunities for domestic travel.
  • Learn and apply professional techniques to produce high‑quality engineering documents for use in bridge design/inspection reports, specifications, studies, and other engineering documents.
Bridge Engineer

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural engineering focus.
  • Successful completion of FHWA‑NHI‑13005 (Safety Inspection of In‑Service Bridges).
  • Bridge engineering experience with a major agency.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis programs such as STAAD, LEAP Bridge, LEAP Concrete, AASHTOWare, BRS, SAP/CSI, etc.
Traffic Engineer

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist with traffic engineering tasks ranging from traffic impact analysis, safety evaluations, signal analysis and design, and preparation of signing and pavement marking plans, MOT/ construction phasing plans, transportation management plans (TMPs), and lighting plans.
  • Assist with traffic study reviews from third parties for new developments and projects.
Traffic Engineer

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of traffic signal design software (SYNCHRO).
  • Exposure to modeling tools such as Open Roads.
  • Familiarity with maintenance of traffic schemes, construction phasing, and traffic control plans.
  • Experience with lighting design software.
Basic Requirement
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (e.g., structural engineering).
Preferred Qualifications
  • E. or E.I.T. is a plus.
  • Established knowledge of civil engineering principles such as geometric design, structural analysis, steel and concrete design, basic hydrology and hydraulics, and basic geotechnical/foundation design.
  • Relevant experience with engineering software such as Micro Station and AutoCAD.
  • Experience and interest in working on various levels of engineering infrastructure projects in the Mid‑Atlantic region.
  • Organization and planning ability.

Target salary range: $60k – $75k per year.
