Role and Responsibilities:

We are looking for a Brand Designer with a strong background in strategy-driven packaging design to help bring our brand to life, particularly in a retail environment. This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on design execution to deliver visually compelling and commercially successful brand experiences - on the shelf, online, and in the customer’s hands. You will collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, operations, and brand teams to ensure that every element—from product packaging to point-of-sale and out-of-home displays—aligns with our brand identity and enhances the customer journey.

This role reports to the VP of Product and the Director of Brand.

What you’ll do:

  • Packaging Design
    • Design and develop retail packaging for new and existing products, across multiple product and packaging formats
    • Approach copy and design with a highly strategic eye, prioritizing clear communication and thoughtful positioning
    • Develop graphical assets, illustrations, and iconography for use on products and packaging
    • Ensure designs are eye-catching, flawless, and resonant with our demographic
    • Use best practices for packaging design, both strategically and for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
    • Collaborate with structural engineers, print vendors, and production teams to bring packaging to life
    • Conceptualize and design in-store experiences including retail shelving, point-of-sale displays, signage, and fixture systems as needed
    • Work with retail partners and internal teams to tailor designs for various environments and formats
  • Brand Consistency & Innovation
    • Mock up product designs for digital channels (e.g., product page images on DTC website)
    • Maintain and evolve the brand’s visual language across all touchpoints
    • Present and defend creative concepts internally and externally
    • Stay current on design trends, retail innovations, and competitor activity
    • Design branded campaigns, such as OOH marketing (billboard, poster, vehicle, etc.)

What you’ll bring:

  • 3+ years of professional design experience in packaging & product design
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of physical product and packaging work
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and prototyping tools for production-ready designs
  • A proactive attitude with a passion for bringing creative visions to life through strong execution.
  • Ability to execute and pivot with tight timelines
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrates humility, self-awareness, and a continuous curiosity for learning.
  • A collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for contributing to an early-stage brand's growth.
  • Thrives in a startup environment – is the ‘CEO’ of product design and gets it done scrappily
  • Low ego - puts the needs of the business ahead of personal interests.

Practicalities:

  • This is a full-time role
  • Salary:
    Base salary range $90,000 - $130,000 + potential equity package
  • Unlimited PTO policy
  • We work in the office 5 days per week in New York City - working together is actually a lot of fun if you enjoy working with a great team!
