Job Summary:
SUNY Sullivan is seeking a skilled professional to serve as a part-time Adjunct Instructor in the Criminal Justice program. This position involves teaching college-level courses including but not limited to Cultural Diversity & Criminal Justice, Criminal Investigations, Police Operations, Domestic & International Terrorism, Intro to Forensic Science, Juvenile Justice, and Police-Community Relations.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy and a culture of belonging.
Qualifications:
* Master's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely-related field
* Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in Criminal Justice or a closely-related field
* Prior teaching or training experience (higher education teaching preferred)
* Ability to teach various modalities, including seated, online, and hybrid classes
* Availability to teach during the daytime, 1-2 days per week
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Teach college-level business courses in both in-person and online formats, fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment
* Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with established curriculum and course learning outcomes
* Evaluate and assess student performance based on course objectives using clear and consistent grading practices
* Provide academic support, mentorship, and career guidance to students as needed
* Maintain regular office hours (on campus and/or virtually) and communicate professionally with students and colleagues
* Incorporate current business practices, technologies, and industry trends into course content
* Uphold college policies related to attendance, academic integrity, and professionalism
* Maintain accurate course records, including attendance and grades, and submit required documentation by established deadlines
* Participate in department meetings, professional development, and college initiatives including occasional evening or weekend activities
* Maintain a positive working relationship with any community partners or other stakeholders
Salary:
Salary is determined by a candidate's rank at SUNY Sullivan, based on teaching experience, education, etc. The full salary range is $655 to $740 per contact hour/course credit per semester. A comprehensive list of benefits associated with this role is accessible ysullivan.edu/suny-sullivan-careers.
