Library Director – Central Square Library

The Central Square Library is seeking a Library Director with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree who is an energetic, organized and effective communicator with experience and skills in managing others.

Summary:

The Library Director is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the library and must be able to work with Assistants, the Board of Trustees, NCLS and the public. The Director must be dedicated to the importance of libraries and education.

The director should expect to work 30 – 35 hours per week including some evenings and weekends.

Duties Include, but are not limited to:

• Select and order materials
• Schedule and facilitate varied programs for children, teens and adults
• Seek grant opportunities for library and program funding and liaise with towns and villages the library serves for financial support
• Communicate library information to the public through the website and social media
• Supervise library employees
• Communicate library needs to the Board of Trustees
• Responsibly handle the financial aspects of the budget related to the director duties
• Monitor the building and office equipment to ensure they are in good working order
• Attend monthly Board meetings, the annual NCLS meeting, and other professional development opportunities

Skills:

• Work and relate well with the public, staff, and Board of Trustees
• Proficiency with basic electronics including computers, cell phones, copier, printer and scanner
• Familiarity with various word programs and social media platforms. Polaris Leap experience and NCLS training are helpful but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:

Starting pay : $21.00 – $23.00 per hour. Benefits include paid time off and some paid holidays.
