The Interconnection Engineer will take technical ownership of interconnection deliverables for both solar and storage projects. This position is ideal for someone who excels at technical analysis while effectively coordinating with utilities, external consultants, and internal development leads.
Key Responsibilities Technical Review & Execution- Develop comprehensive interconnection design packages for utility submittals and manage RFI responses to drive projects toward study completion.
- Perform fatal-flaw analyses on early-stage sites, identifying grid constraints and optimization opportunities.
- Review utility technical reports and provide assessments on protection schemes, electrical configurations, and point-of-interconnection (POI) assumptions.
- Oversee high-level cost estimation from third-party firms to support project valuation.
- Maintain and improve standardized electrical diagrams and documentation templates.
- Manage third-party engineering firms, including scope definition, technical oversight, and schedule tracking.
- Coordinate site walks and field visits to ensure technical readiness.
- Track milestones, risks, and critical path dependencies across the national project pipeline.
- Assist leadership in developing prospecting strategies across various ISOs and utility territories.
- Interpret evolving interconnection policies, tariffs, and utility requirements to mitigate development risk.
- Align technical findings with commercial objectives by collaborating with finance and development stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus preferred).
- 1+ years of experience with AC power systems and interconnection processes.
- Deep familiarity with utility study workflows and technical documentation requirements.
- Strong technical communication skills for interfacing with utility engineers and consultants.
- Exposure to hosting capacity analysis, cost estimation, or protection and control concepts.
