Equity Research Intern - Biotechnology

At Piper Sandler, we connect capital with opportunity to build a better future. We are seeking an Equity Research Intern to join our Biotechnology Research Group in New York, NY.

• Work in partnership with the senior analyst to conduct extensive company and industry research
• Create financial models and valuation analyses
• Write company reports, industry reports and investment recommendations
• Meet with company management teams and interview company customers, suppliers and competitors
• Make company visits and attend trade shows and industry conferences
• Market research and investment recommendations to our sales force and institutional investors, venture capitalists, and private and public companies

• Ph.D., Master’s degree in a science‑related field or Undergraduate degree with at least 2 years of work experience in the healthcare sector
• Strong quantitative and organizational skills
• Fluent understanding of financial accounting preferred; strong writing and financial modeling experience required
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
• Strong competitive spirit balanced by ability to work as part of a team
• Strong background in biological sciences
• Intense interest in the stock market and a demonstrated record of achievement
• Willingness to obtain SIE, Series 86 and 87 within 90 days (or already obtained)

Hourly rate for the internship: $21–$30, depending on experience and location. The internship is not a summer position; it is intended as a 6‑month role with a potential full‑time transition. Full‑time salary range: $80,000–$125,000 per year, with annual incentive compensation. Total compensation competitive with market.
