Unarmed Security Officer University Campus – Union

Overview

Doyle Security Services, Inc. (DSS) is seeking experienced Security Officers in the Brooklyn area for an Educational Institution.

Pay rate: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour. Schedules available.

Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel. Makes periodic tours to check for irregularities. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises. The position requires the ability to stand for the majority of the workday.

• Provide a safe, secure environment for students, staff and guests inside the school.
• Establish and maintain good rapport with parents, students, staff and community members.
• Monitor hallways, stairwells, toilet facilities, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised areas of the school to ensure safety and security.
• Assist with fire drills, crises and other emergency building evacuations and situations.
• Assist administrators and staff in crisis and emergency situations.
• Ensure a smooth traffic flow of students through the hallways and assist students with on-time arrival to class and to assigned locations.
• Supervise and direct student movement during arrival and dismissal.
• Update security records, logs, and reports.
• Ensure all doors and gates are locked and that all alarms are engaged at designated times.
• Assist staff and emergency personnel in handling emergencies and deescalating disruptive situations on campus.
• Assist in daily operational duties as needed.

• School security experience a plus
• CPR Certification

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid NYS Security Guard License
• 3+ years of experience in the security industry
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Ability to verbally de-escalate situations
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to understand and communicate in English both verbally and in writing
