Job Description & How to Apply Below
Overview
A day in this role:
You start your morning reviewing the queue — a truck-mounted carpet unit with a fuel issue, a portable extractor losing suction, and an air scrubber due for maintenance. With your meter and manufacturer manuals in hand, you diagnose a 2-cylinder gas engine misfire, create a service order, and present a clear estimate. By midday, you re scheduling a dehumidifier repair in our software while coordinating parts with a vendor.
In the afternoon, you jump in to help a teammate balance the shop workload, then tidy your bench, update customers by phone and email, and prep tomorrow s appointments.
- Diagnose and repair systems and components for commercial cleaning, restoration, and surface-prep equipment, including 2, 3 & 4 cylinder gas engines, truck-mounted carpet cleaning units, portable extractors, hard-surface floor machines, duct cleaning tools, deodorizing equipment, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, air movers, and HEPA vacuums.
- Leverage test equipment, troubleshooting guides, and OEM repair manuals to pinpoint issues accurately.
- Evaluate equipment condition and communicate additional service needs discovered in the shop.
- Consistently meet or exceed quality and productivity targets set by the service department.
- Follow direction from supervisors; collaborate closely with other techs and store staff.
- Jump in to assist teammates and store employees whenever needed.
- Use and care for shop tools and equipment properly; keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Create service orders for incoming repairs and build clear, detailed bids for work.
- Schedule service and repair appointments with customers; maintain calendars in scheduling software.
- Communicate with customers in person, by phone, and via email; present repair estimates professionally.
- Coordinate shop workload with fellow technicians to hit deadlines.
- Order parts and work directly with vendors to keep jobs moving.
- Coordinate service activities with other store employees to ensure smooth operations.
- 2+ years preferred in commercial cleaning/restoration equipment, small engine work, pressure washer service, or vehicle maintenance.
- Valid driver license with a clean record (no DUIs or careless/reckless driving on MVR for the last 3 years).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Own a basic set of mechanic s tools.
- Strong technical aptitude, mechanical sense, and attention to detail.
- Proven diagnostic and problem-solving skills with efficient, accurate outcomes.
- Safety-first mindset—use safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE as required.
- Ability to stay focused and deliver quality work on time; can lift 50+ lbs regularly.
- Professional presence with solid written and verbal communication; basic computer skills.
- Occasional overtime required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Mechanical troubleshooting
- Electrical troubleshooting
- HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting
- General maintenance and repair
- Equipment diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance
Pay Range: $19.00 - $21.00 + Monthly Bonus
