Our client, a nationally recognized leader in precision metal stamping, injection molding, assembly, and tooling with over 50 years in the business, is looking for a skilled engineer to join their team at their Corporate Headquarters. They are dedicated to an exciting, innovative environment serving the medical, automotive, and industrial sectors.
They are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Molding Tooling Engineer to join their Mold Engineering Team. This role is crucial in supporting new product launches, resolving complex tooling challenges, and applying scientific principles to ensure molds and molding production are consistently ready and profitable.
Key Responsibilities to Shape Success:
- Edit Part & Mold 3D models using Solid Works and AutoCAD.
- Interpret 2D drawings and apply GD&T requirements.
- Potentially create Preliminary Mold Design layouts (a plus!).
- Generate Feasibility and DFM analyses for customers in a timely manner.
- Utilize or gain certification in Mold Flow analysis.
- Support New Business Development by providing technical expertise on molding and tooling.
- Prepare accurate and timely Molding quote worksheets.
- Assist the Molding Toolroom with problem-solving.
- Collaborate with external tooling, resin, and component suppliers for optimal cost, lead time, and quality.
- Work cross-functionally with internal Automation, Stamping, and other departments.
- Develop new mold tooling and component suppliers.
- Support internal Project Engineering APQP for new and current programs.
- Monitor and audit mold suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and sample readiness.
- Provide technical support for Production Molding and Tooling from mold arrival through PPAP and customer approval.
- Prepare Molding Tooling RFQs for outside suppliers.
- Stay updated on industry advancements through trade shows and training.
- Collaborate with PCNC & Wire for rework modifications.
- Support TS and ISO standards.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Tooling and Process Engineering for Injection Molding.
- Proven ability to direct internal and external mold tooling projects, ensuring on-time delivery and managing mold designs.
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent formal training required.
- Proficiency in editing Solid Works 3D and 2D AutoCAD files.
- Ability to read blueprints and other technical documents.
- Understanding of ANSI/ISO drawing standards and GD&T dimensioning.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences (technical, non-technical, suppliers, customers).
