Job Description
A Project Civil Engineer manages the planning, design, and execution of infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, and buildings, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to safety and regulatory standards. They work closely with clients, contractors, and other engineers to ensure successful project delivery. The position is a full‑time direct role based at our office in Newark, NJ.
The Project Engineer will lead a variety of public and private site development projects and work with municipal clients across various markets.
$100k to $115k

- Manage multiple projects and tasks, including monitoring schedules & budgets to ensure effective completion of projects.
- Meet regularly with clients.
- Prepare proposals for new & existing clients (including estimation of project fees).
- Oversee the development of land development plans, including the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specifications, and engineering reports (from schematic design through construction).
- Coordinate permits through regulatory agencies for large‑scale, complex projects.
- Delegate workload to junior engineers & drafters; mentor and guide junior engineers to develop stormwater management (SWM) strategies, utility coordination, and erosion & sediment control (E&SC) design.
- Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline).
- 8+ years of professional experience working in engineering, preferably with land development design projects.
- PE license in NJ (we will consider candidates who can obtain their PE within 6 months of their start date).
- Additional relevant certification (e.g., Certified Municipal Engineer / CME, Certified Floodplain Manager / CFM, Professional Planner / PP). This is a plus.
- Management and/or project management experience; proven ability to manage multi‑discipline projects.
- Advanced proficiency with site design functions: site layout, grading, utility design, stormwater management, erosion control, municipal & land‑use regulatory approvals, etc.
- Experience working with stormwater management, especially while utilizing hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools.
- Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g., CADD, project management software). Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
- Proficiency with standard office software applications:
Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Bluebeam Revu is a plus. - Proven ability to look at the "Big Picture" and coordinate various design disciplines.
- Proven track record of demonstrating punctuality with consistent attendance.
- Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborative team player, while maintaining the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proven ability to demonstrate problem‑solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects and providing solutions to difficult issues.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
