Floor Care Technician will be responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and refinishing different floor types in health care and warehouse settings. This overnight position requires attention to detail and visual acuity to ensure all flooring is well maintained. The individual must possess technical skills to properly use cleaning and maintenance chemicals and floor equipment, and respond favorably to requests to adjust daily workflow or area assignments to meet facility needs.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Perform all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting.
- Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management, and infection control standards and promote a culture of safety.
- Clean and perform routine maintenance on floor equipment.
- Maintain accurate floor care logs and checklists.
- Operate all equipment with care and according to facility and manufacturers safety standards and procedures.
- Perform project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs.
- Follow all infection prevention practices (proper cleaning process, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions where required and proper use of personal protective equipment).
- Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
- Practice critical thinking skills, including prioritization.
- Identify and utilize appropriate resources to address and resolve problems or concerns.
- Recognize role as part of the larger organization and model the mission statement.
- At least 2 years of floor care maintenance experience.
- Knowledge and skills in the use of power equipment, conventional and high‑speed floor machines, carpet cleaning equipment, wet/dry and power vacuum equipment, and push sweepers.
- Effectively uses computers and mobile devices.
- Communicates orally or in writing openly and candidly, creating an environment where others can do likewise.
- Respectfully listens to viewpoints and ideas of others.
- Ability to work without close supervision.
- Ability to operate necessary equipment and machines.
- Ability to lift and carry 75–100 pounds on a regular basis throughout the shift.
- Must be able to stand, exert well‑paced mobility, push and pull equipment of various sizes and weights.
- Requires grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, and visual acuity.
- Must be able to kneel, bend, stop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
- Driver's license preferred; some customer service skills may be required for client communication.
Standing (over 75%), walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, talk or hear, limit taste or smell, lift up to 10 pounds, up to 25 pounds, up to 50 pounds.
