Principal Manufacturing Quality Engineer – Baskets/Welding, Louisville, KY

• Be the subject‑matter expert in automated high‑speed fabrication of stainless‑steel components with a strong focus on laser welding.
• Own strategy, engineering, execution, documentation, and success for front‑load washer basket welding processes.
• Own all attributes of the Manufacturing Control Plan for basket manufacturing processes.
• Support other metal fabrication operations as appropriate.
• Live, promote, and support the Appliance Production System (APS) philosophy and drive continuous quality improvement.
• Ensure cross‑functional, focused collaboration and promote a culture that reinforces product quality through engineering problem solving.
• Identify and complete projects that reduce factory FPY, EOLA, and scrap while supporting product‑line financial goals such as warranty, damage, concessions, and scrap.
• Own and delegate tasks, establishing accountability at the appropriate level.
• Collaborate with the product‑line Systems Engineering Team to respond to part or system level performance issues.
• Support data analysis from internal streams (engineering, EOLA, and CAT/CUT labs) and lead continuous improvement actions.
• Identify and execute projects to improve operational cost and act as owner for CAPA and CAR initiatives.
• Lead projects through the change‑control process, supporting material, equipment, and process changes with risk mitigation.
• Support SPC analysis and implement control plan responses as required.
• Escalate and measure response to data trends, validating root‑cause actions for effectiveness.
• Provide guidance to the New Product Introduction (NPI) team on manufacturing capabilities for new designs.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or an Associate’s Degree plus significant automated laser welding engineering experience.
• 7‑10+ years of experience in metal fabrication and welding engineering in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
• Ability to travel internationally during the planning phase for up to 4 weeks (not sequentially); ongoing travel will be minimal (
