SUMMARY:
Perform routine duties to prepare product for shipment by packing fresh or frozen bread into bags/boxes, or auto-packing for delivery following prescribed instructions based on bread type and order.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Line Packing:
• Hand-pack bread coming off conveyor into bags.
• Ensure correct number of bread products in bag.
• Use equipment for sealing bags as required.
• Perform constant visual in-process quality check for shape of bread
• Periodically weigh a sample as prescribed schedule to ensure proper weight.
• Discard bread that is not of sufficient quality or weight.
• Place packed bread bags into bins recording quantities of items and bins.
• Prepare labels and count bags in preparation for next day’s orders.
• Perform a final quality check on bread items before shipment, including shape, size, toppings, scores, weight, etc.
• Maintain clear communications with supervisors on any unusual circumstances as required.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures at all times.
Frozen Packing:
• Use PLC touchscreen to select correct program for bread type to adjust for temperature and speed of conveyor.
• Follow specified instructions to manually pack the correct count of frozen bread into prepared boxes.
• Perform visual quality check (shape, size, toppings, scores,) on bread items and regular weight checks before boxing.
• Discard bread that does not meet specifications and record on production paperwork.
• Assign numbers to labels on boxes for tracking purposes.
• Load boxes onto pallets and use specialized equipment to wrap pallets.
• Use hand trucks to transfer pallets to storage areas.
• Track and record number of items, boxes, pallets, etc.
• Rotate with other production personnel to perform tasks of final inspection. Weigh bread and ensure properly alignment as it enters freezing spiral.
• Complete production records as required.
• Maintain clear communications with supervisors on any unusual circumstances as required.
• Follow safety rules and regulations at all times.
Auto Fill Packing:
• Assist in setting up staging area as required.
• Transfer bread from staging areas and place into proper customer bins, using invoice as reference.
• Document quantity on sales order.
• Perform constant visual in-process quality check on bread items.
• Discard bread that does not meet specifications and record on production paperwork.
• Prepare labels and count bags in preparation for next day’s orders.
• Maintain clear communications with supervisors on any unusual circumstances as required.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures at all times.
REPORTS TO: Production Lead or Supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. Responsible for own work.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of basic production and quality principles. Basic math skills. Up to 3 months of on the job training.
PHYSICAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position performs physical activities that require:
 Significant time standing on production line and moving about production areas.
 Considerable use of arms and legs and moving whole body, reaching and stooping, continuously moving light weight material (5 to 25 lbs.) in difficult positions and frequently moving average weight (25-60lbs.), balancing, and moving about production areas.
 Handling and Moving Objects — Use of hands and arms in coordination to handle, position, and move materials, and manipulate things. Manual dexterity and fingering are required.
 Near vision—see objects at close range.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Able to read, comprehend, and convey information in Basic English. Bilingual preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL:
The incumbent regularly performs work in a medium production environment where individual is exposed to flour, oil, heat, cold and normal production chemicals and hazards. Travel is not required.
