City of Northglenn seeks a highly motivated and outgoing Municipal Services Worker II or III – Sanitation. The role involves operating sanitation vehicles, managing trash waste collection, recycling, and disposal, and ensuring compliance with City and safety regulations.
Position Highlights- Responsible for municipal trash waste collection, recycling, and disposal.
- Operates heavy sanitation vehicles and equipment while following City and safety regulations.
- Requires a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (MSW II); 3+ years for MSW III.
- Hourly pay: $25.22 – $29.00 (MSW II), $26.58 – $31.90 (MSW III).

- Operate a variety of sanitation vehicles and equipment, including side-load refuse trucks to collect and transport solid waste, recyclables, and yard debris.
- Perform routine pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and basic maintenance to ensure vehicles and equipment remain in safe operating condition.
- Follow established routes, schedules, and safety procedures while maintaining compliance with all traffic laws and City regulations.
- Respond to public inquiries, service requests, and complaints in a courteous, professional, and customer‑focused manner.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including timesheets and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). reports.
- Ensure adherence to all City policies, environmental standards, and workplace safety protocols.
- Assist in training lower‑level sanitation staff as assigned by the Sanitation Supervisor.
- Safe operation and maintenance of equipment: side-load automated refuse trucks, forklift, front loader, skid steer, portable generators, and compressors.
- All duties of MSW II plus independent operation of all sanitation vehicles: side-load refuse trucks, roll‑off trucks, grapple hook trucks, rear‑load refuse trucks, and recycling collection trucks.
- Perform routine pre‑ and post‑trip inspections with basic maintenance to ensure vehicle safety.
- Knowledge of roll‑off operations across multiple service areas (residential routes, parks, recycle center operations, event logistics, and Water Treatment Plant service needs).
- Assist in training and mentoring lower‑level sanitation staff.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Sanitation Supervisor.
- Safe operation and maintenance of equipment: side-load automated refuse trucks, roll‑off trucks, grapple hook trucks, rear‑load trucks, recycling collection trucks, forklift, front loader, skid steer, portable generators, and compressors.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sanitation, waste collection, or a related field.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug test.
- First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in municipal sanitation or a related field.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug test.
- First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
