Summary

To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works. To respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver’s mate. Includes apprentices who have fully completed training.

Specialist Skills

To have and be able to apply a wide range of generalist skills
To understand risk assessments and to assess according to safe systems of work
To be able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification
Generally hold 12 months+ experience
Potential & interest in obtaining LGV licence
Undertaken training on:
General health & safety awareness / Risk assessment awareness / Traffic Management / Use of PDA as required
Ability to use small plant and equipment
Ability to operate mini excavator

Prepared to work varying hours to meet the needs of the business
Willingness to apply skills to a variety of different highways jobs, with changing team members
Prepared to develop and undertake relevant training and qualifications
Be able to complete record sheets, paper or electronic

Ability to use own initiative
To understand and be responsible for own safety, plus that those around them
To be available for emergency and/or winter call outs
