We are looking to appoint a full‑time Assistant Professor in Drama to work in our team in the School of English at the University of Nottingham. The role is a fixed‑term teaching contract from 1 September 2026 to 31 May 2027.
ResponsibilitiesDeliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the long twentieth and twenty‑first centuries. Contribute to the core first‑year survey‑type module, Drama, Theatre, Performance; convene a second‑year module, Twentieth‑Century Plays; and contribute to a final‑year module, Changing Stages:
Theatre Industry and Theatre Art.
Possibly contribute to other drama and performance teaching as appropriate within the workload allocation of the role, and more widely to the School of English’s teaching, tutoring and research activities.
QualificationsPhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area of drama and performance with evidence of teaching ability at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Experience of teaching practical drama workshops is essential.

SelectionProcess
Shortlisting is anonymous and based on criteria‑based questions. Each shortlisting panel member will give a mark for each individual answer to create an aggregate score. Answers will be scored against the essential criteria listed in the person specification. CVs will not be requested until shortlisted for interview. Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams and include a short teaching presentation followed by a formal interview with a panel of School of English staff.
