Leads complex technical efforts and mentors junior staff in the development of studies, specifications, and performance evaluations for Exelon's utility infrastructure—including electric and/or gas distribution, transmission, substations, communications systems, and related systems. Drives integrated systems analysis, budget planning, and financial analysis for major projects. Provides strategic recommendations based on in‑depth evaluations of systems and processes, and facilitates collaboration across departments to resolve challenges and optimize outcomes.
Work may include leading design reviews, coordinating with external contractors, validating engineering calculations, managing project documentation workflows, and developing cost‑benefit analyses. May require extended hours during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
- Lead and perform engineering assignments for critical projects or multiple small projects that require extensive expertise and may involve leading employees or contractors in commissioning electrical systems and equipment on the system (45%).
- Perform assignments in areas lacking complete engineering precedents or requiring broad experience (25%).
- Evaluate, develop and implement projects with significant financial and operational impact (10%).
- Serve as an expert for the organization in a specific area, including delivering classroom instruction, training, or on‑the‑job instruction (5%).
- Act independently and may lead multi‑discipline teams (5%).
- Provide recommendations and implement action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness (5%).
- Participate in technical and industry societies and committees to enhance knowledge of new technologies or issues (5%).
- Provide technical assistance in support of others.
- Influence decisions that have a significant impact on the company.
- Apply technical knowledge to promote a safe work environment and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and at least 4 years of relevant experience, or at least 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem‑solving approaches.
- Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
- Knowledge of complex field test equipment.
- Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline, installations, or service.
- Relevant education or experience gained through military roles, project management, journey‑level electrician or gas technician, field operations, or other utility‑related experience.
- Independently apply advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills to optimize and innovate engineering systems and processes.
- Lead technical discussions and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences, including non‑technical stakeholders.
- Drive cross‑team collaboration and mentor junior staff.
- Demonstrate initiative and ownership by leading projects, managing cross‑functional teams, and implementing significant process improvements.
- Proactively identify and address technical challenges, recommending strategic solutions.
- Working knowledge of analysis software packages such as CYMDIST, PSS/E, Python, PLS‑CAD, Pole Foreman, Power BI, or similar.
- Annual salary ranges from $88,800 to $122,100, based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
