Project Manager – Heavy Civil (Bridge & Structural Concrete)
Location: Oakland, CA
Hours: Full-time (standard business hours with field/site visits as required)
Salary: $125,000 – $175,000+ with employee stock options, gas and car allowance, great benefits
SummaryThe Project Manager is responsible for leading the full lifecycle of heavy civil construction projects with a focus on bridge work, structural concrete, reinforcing steel, and formwork systems. This role owns project outcomes from preconstruction through closeout, including schedule, cost, safety, and quality performance. The PM will lead both field and office coordination efforts, managing internal teams, subcontractors, and client relationships to ensure successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
This position requires strong leadership, deep technical knowledge of bridge and structural concrete construction, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts across engineering, procurement, and field execution.
What you will be doing- Lead projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring schedule, budget, and quality goals are met
- Manage project financials including cost tracking, forecasting, and change orders
- Build and maintain master schedules covering bridge work, concrete pours, and structural sequencing
- Review constructability, focusing on formwork systems, structural concrete, and bridge methods
- Oversee subcontractor buyout, procurement, and contract execution
- Coordinate closely with field teams on concrete placement, rebar, and formwork installation
- Run project meetings (OAC, progress, precon) with clients, engineers, and internal teams
- Oversee QA/QC, inspections, and compliance with project specifications
- Support safety programs and enforce OSHA compliance in coordination with field leadership
- Manage reporting, including monthly project status and financial updates
- Oversee closeout, punch list, and turnover documentation
- Serve as client contact through construction and warranty period
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in construction or engineering
- 5+ years of heavy civil experience, ideally bridge or structural concrete projects
- Strong understanding of formwork, rebar, and concrete construction methods
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, and subcontractors
- Knowledge of construction contracts (lump sum / unit price)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a field-driven environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management tools
