Role Overview
The Sr Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, goods, and services to meet the company's operational requirements. The role includes monitoring delivery reports, working directly with suppliers to resolve issues, and managing supplier relationships to ensure key performance indicators are met. This position interacts with internal stakeholders such as Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and Product Management to support supply chain activities.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities including issuing purchase orders, expediting orders, and resolving discrepancies.
- Evaluate and analyze buy signals from MRP system; experience with JDE desirable.
- Review and update procurement policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand purchasing needs, resolve supply challenges, and improve material availability.
- Analyze vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and price as well as other pertinent data to maintain a strong and sustainable supply chain.
- Make timely recommendations using data to support supply chain decisions.
- Coordinate nonconformance issues with internal teams and suppliers promptly.
- Authorize payment of invoices or return of merchandise.
- Interface with vendors and build relationships to maintain high levels of support throughout the procurement process.
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor.
- Understanding of supply chain processes, including procurement, logistics, and inventory management.
- Proficiency with procurement software, working within ERP systems and tools; experience with JDE desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to resolve supply chain issues and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Ability to engage and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
- Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in orders and compliance with specifications.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, with emphasis in business administration, economics, production, manufacturing, and/or engineering.
- 5-7 years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment.
