Job SummaryRead blueprints, fit and/or oversee fitting, expedite parts, weld and/or oversee welding, and take ownership of jobs to meet customer and schedule requirements.
Essential Functions- Read blueprints.
- Supervise a crew and complete a job from start to finish without direct supervision.
- Expedite all parts throughout the plant as necessary to meet production goals.
- Resolve all obstacles related to the job.
- Take ownership for meeting customer and schedule requirements.
- Act as a living example of Petersen's principles of unity, trust, honesty, integrity, creativity, and self‑reliance.
- Make all welds uniform and clean, and complete work to customer’s specifications.
- Pass a blueprint test: read all weld symbols on a blueprint, differentiate between channel, angle, flat bar, square tube, pipe, etc.
- Pass a basic plate weld test (visual and bend) within specified time requirements, in four of the five weld processes used at Petersen Inc: F.C.A.W. (Stainless and mild steel: 3G, 6G), G.M.A.W. (Mild steel: 3G), G.T.A.W. (Stainless and aluminum: 3G, 6G), S.A.W. (Sub‑arc: 1G is a plus but not required).
- Calculate arc length and circumference.
- Calculate bolt circles, chord length, and flat pattern.
- Work well in a team environment, listen, understand concerns, and gain cooperation to solve problems quickly and effectively.
- Be efficient and productive with time.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance and safety record.
- Maintain a safe environment.
High school education or GED preferred. Four years of shop or field welding. Ability to understand instructions, resolve problems, handle conflicts, and make effective decisions under pressure. Ability to perform math calculations, especially trigonometry.
Essential Physical FunctionsRequires lifting, stooping, bending and stretching to accomplish grinding, welding and other assigned duties; requires ability to work at different heights; requires correctable vision to within normal range; requires standing, bending and stooping for extended periods.
Safety Requirements- Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of harm to self or others.
- Commit to a high standard of safety and comply with all safety laws, policies and rules; report safety violations.

TravelMust be available and willing to travel as the employer determines necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
Working ConditionsTypical fabrication shop environment; occasional overtime. Conditions may vary by weather and heat/cold exposure. The employer retains right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities.
