We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Permit Technician to join our team of professionals. This position offers a great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of assignments and to be a member of a highly respected team with a full complement of resources and exciting projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Receive, review, and process building permit applications, plans, and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Provide information to contractors, homeowners, and the public regarding permitting requirements, fees, and inspection procedures.
- Input permit data into the City's permitting software and maintain accurate electronic and physical records.
- Coordinate plan reviews between applicants and reviewing departments.
- Issue approved building permits, Certificates of Occupancy, and other related documents.
- Assess and collect permit and impact fees.
- Assist with scheduling building inspections and maintaining inspection records.
- Provide exceptional customer service in person, by phone, and via email.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with applicable City and State regulations.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the Building Department.
SKILLS:
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele.
- Good time management, organization, telephone, attention to detail, and people skills.
- Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and municipal development procedures.
- ICC Permit Technician and other certifications are a bonus
- Previous experience in a Florida municipal or county Building Department
