Maintenance Technician (Full Time)
Location: Olathe, KS
Purpose of PositionThis is a full‑time position. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for building maintenance and repair, vehicle maintenance and repair, custodial work support, yard maintenance and snow removal. The technician works directly with the Director of Facilities on project management tasks and supports the Campus Management team. Records related to duties may be maintained as assigned.
Work performance is reviewed through informal and formal supervision, reports, and evaluations. The incumbent is a KidsTLC employee subject to the KidsTLC personnel policies and procedures.
This is an EOE position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide building maintenance, including drywall repair, minor plumbing, minor electrical, painting, carpet cleaning, and other minor tasks.
- Provide basic appliance repair of custodial and laundry equipment.
- Maintain vehicles, including minor repairs and scheduled maintenance.
- Manage campus‑wide fire safety and environmental management systems.
- Support yard maintenance and snow removal for all KidsTLC properties.
- Complete work order tickets assigned by or self‑assigned to the Director of Facilities.
- Assist the Director of Facilities with project management and related processes; lead campus projects from start to finish, meet deadlines, document progress, and report directly to the Director of Campus Management.
This position has no direct reports.

- Maintain assigned KidsTLC properties using the CMMS ticketing system.
- Perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks such as changing tires, jump‑starting batteries, and overseeing scheduled repairs.
- Perform yard maintenance tasks, including trash pickup, debris removal, bush trimming, bed maintenance, watering plants, and assisting volunteer projects.
- Remove snow and ice from walkways.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities.
- Assist the Director of Facilities in tracking supplies and organizing tools and warehouse resources.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Current Kansas driver’s license and 4 years of experience required.
Language AbilityAbility to read and interpret safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and read a tape measure.
Cognitive DemandsApply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions; solve problems involving multiple concrete variables.
Computer SkillsKnowledge of industry‑specific software, systems, web‑based programs, and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Physical DemandsLift up to 70 pounds; climb ladders; endure outdoor weather conditions year‑round; operate lawn care machinery safely.
Environmental AdaptabilityStandard office or residential environment with high noise level; fast‑paced outdoor weather conditions year‑round.
