The Digital Department Lead works in close partnership with the Production Supervisor to support daily operations of digital press and converting equipment, including digital presses and Digicon/Digilite finishing equipment. This role serves as a key support to the Supervisor by helping coordinate workflow, guide team members, and ensure production, quality, and safety standards are consistently achieved. The Department Lead is a working lead who actively operates equipment while assisting in driving productivity, minimizing waste, and maintaining a high level of team performance, with or without reasonable accommodation.
EssentialFunctions
- Operate digital press and/or Digicon/Digilite equipment to produce quality products in accordance with production specifications, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Coordinate and support daily workflow and production activities in partnership with the Production Supervisor.
- Ensure product quality and compliance with specifications through inspection and adherence to quality standards.
- Support team performance by providing guidance, training, and communication with operators.
- Maintain safe work practices and ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures.
- Identify and support improvements in efficiency, waste reduction, and equipment performance.
- Complete required production documentation and reporting accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and company initiatives as assigned.
- Provide input on process improvements or equipment upgrades.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in digital printing and/or finishing/converting operations preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to operate digital presses and/or Digicon/Digilite equipment.
- Previous experience in a lead or senior operator role preferred.
- Strong understanding of print processes, color management, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret job orders, production specifications, and work instructions.
- Basic math and computer skills, including experience with print management systems.
- English proficiency required.
This job is performed indoors in a temperature and humidity‑controlled environment. Job tasks are performed in close proximity to other people and include exposure to strobe lights, sounds and noise levels that could be distracting. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend or crouch. The employee must frequently stand, walk, talk, and occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include ability to hear alarms and other sensors in a factory environment. Requires use of hands to handle, control or feel objects and operate tools and controls.
