Job Summary
City of Onalaska is hiring a Maintenance Worker for a limited-term position. The role involves building maintenance and event support for the Omni Center.
Essential Job Functions- Set up and take down event equipment, returning the building to its original condition.
- Enforce Omni Center rules and ensure public safety.
- Identify and report any building, equipment, or supply issues to supervisor.
- Assist with ice maintenance (resurfacing, flooding, patching, edging, and other duties).
- Maintain the building: bathroom cleaning, restocking, floor care, window cleaning, custodial duties, and outside maintenance.
- Perform opening procedures during events and securely close the building each night.
- Assist customers during events, seek supervisor guidance when needed.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of the building and surrounding grounds.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, building effective relationships with the public, associates, volunteers, and staff.
- Handle problems calmly under stressful circumstances, promote harmony, focus, and flexibility.
- Contribute to cooperative effort, performing other job-related work and special projects as requested.
Work schedules vary by event and can include morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts. The position requires routine physical activity such as lifting and standing, and comfort working in a building environment with periodic use of tools.
Qualifications- Minimum age 16.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible scheduling and willingness to assist with additional duties.
Hourly wage: $11.00 to $14.00, depending on experience and schedule. No benefits are provided for limited-term positions.
