Job Description & How to Apply Below
Are you someone who is curious by nature, looks beyond the surface, enjoys solving problems and prefers a blend of office and field work? Do you thrive in roles where attention to detail, investigative work and building strong working relationships all come together? If you're excited by the idea of work that influences real change and looking for a career where you can help shape positive outcomes across Michigan, this could be the perfect fit for you.
This role will allow you to utilize your skills in communication, organization and time management to support a variety of projects, programs and oversight activities across the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Grand and Southwest regions. You will have opportunities to work both independently and collaboratively while building strong relationships with contractors, consultants, business partners and internal teams. Your ability to be a self-starter, manage competing priorities and approach challenges with professionalism and attention to detail will play an important role in your success.
At MDOT, you will be part of a team that keeps Michigan moving while supporting meaningful work that benefits communities across the entire state. MDOT offers opportunities for professional growth, collaboration and involvement in projects and programs that make a difference beyond your office walls. In this role, you will support important oversight and business development programs through investigative work, compliance reviews, monitoring activities and relationship-building with contractors, consultants and business partners throughout Michigan.
As the next departmental analyst, you will:
* Perform compliance monitoring activities, field investigations and evaluations to ensure compliance with federal and state program regulations.
* Oversee the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Commercially Useful Function (CUF) (49 CFR 26) and Small Business Program (SBP) Contract Compliance Monitoring (CCM) requirements in the assigned MDOT region(s) and serve as a resource on these standards.
* Assist current and potential DBE/SBEs with business development needs, provide training as needed and educate DBE/SBEs, prime contractors and MDOT staff on contract compliance issues in the assigned MDOT region(s).
* Assist with On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Equal Opportunity Contractor Compliance (EOCC) field investigations and interviews.
* Reviewing construction and consultant contracts to assist DBE/SBEs with prompt payment requirements.

There are inland lakes, huge rivers, gentle streams everywhere and, of course, Lake Michigan.
The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the trainee (9) level through the maximum rate at the advanced (12) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.
