Position: Government-Policy Content Writer (Remote, Part-Time)

About the role

We’re looking for a part-time or freelance content writer who’s confident with corporate writing standards and has experience working with government agencies. You’ll support us in producing clear, well-structured writing for Linked In and website blogs, with a strong focus on accuracy, tone, and stakeholder-ready polish.

Key responsibilities

  • Write and refine corporate content for Linked In (thought leadership posts, announcements, campaign messaging, leadership quotes).
  • Develop and write website blog articles (typically 800–1,500 words), including outlines, drafts, and final edits.
  • Translate complex topics into accessible, reader-friendly content without losing nuance or accuracy.
  • Work from source materials such as briefs, interviews, reports, speeches, and policy-style documents.
  • Ensure writing aligns with brand voice, government communication standards, and editorial guidelines.
  • Incorporate basic SEO best practices for blogs (headings, keywords, meta descriptions, internal linking suggestions).
  • Collaborate with designers and strategists to ensure copy works with the intended layout and content format.
  • Manage versions and feedback rounds, and apply consolidated edits cleanly and efficiently.
  • Fact-check where needed and flag areas requiring client confirmation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Marketing, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in corporate writing
, ideally for government agencies, statutory boards, or public sector organisations
    .
  • Strong command of written English with a crisp, professional tone.
  • Able to adapt voice across formats (Linked In vs blog vs web copy) while keeping messaging consistent.
  • Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and tight review cycles.
  • Reliable, responsive, and able to turn around drafts within agreed timelines.
Nice to have
  • Experience writing for regulated or sensitive topics (public policy, healthcare, finance, education).
  • Familiarity with content planning (pillars, messaging frameworks) and basic analytics-informed writing.
  • Experience interviewing subject matter experts and shaping answers into publishable copy.
Engagement details
  • Part-time or freelance arrangement (project-based or monthly retainer).
  • Remote-friendly, with occasional meetings if needed.
  • Rates to be discussed based on experience and scope.
To apply

Please share:

  • A short introduction and your availability
  • Your rate card (per word / per article / per month)
  • 3–5 relevant writing samples (government/corporate preferred), including at least one Linked In-style piece and one long-form blog article.
