Job Description:
If you’re a critical thinker with strong writing and editing skills this may be the internship for you. We’re hiring for positions during September–December (Fall). This internship is 40 hours a week for the four-month period. It includes medical benefits. You’ll work at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City, Utah with the possibility of some days working at home.
As Liahona intern, you’ll work with staff to plan and develop magazine content for readers worldwide. You’ll be writing, editing, interviewing, researching, proofreading, and evaluating manuscripts, but duties may depend on your strengths and goals and our needs at the magazine. The magazine is published in 50 languages but is produced first in English, so foreign language skills are not required.
International experience is helpful.
Applicants working toward an editing minor or major or taking classes with an editing/writing emphasis, or those who have print or digital journalism experience, are preferred.
Core Qualifications- At least one semester of college-level editing or writing experience, such as on a newspaper staff, for a literary journal, in a writing lab, or as a professor's assistant.
- Strong writing, revising, copyediting, and proofreading skills.
- Sound understanding of Church doctrine, history, organization, and policy.
- The ability to manage many projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- The ability to give careful attention to detail, sustain concentration for long periods of time, and maintain the highest level of accuracy.
- The ability to work well with people and present an image of professionalism.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university.
- Or recently completed a degree from an accredited college or university within one year of beginning this internship.
- Be available for video conference interviews.
