Rootstock Architecture is seeking an Intermediate Architectural Technologist to join our growing studio. This is a full-time position offering flexible scheduling including work from home days within a collaborative, design-focused studio environment.
About Rootstock Rootstock Architecture Inc. is a growing architectural studio registered in Alberta and British Columbia . Our work focuses on multi-family, high-end single-family, commercial/professional projects entertainment sectors .
We are a collaborative studio where team members are actively involved in all phases of project delivery—from early design through construction completion . We value strong working relationships, thoughtful design, and creating an environment where our team can grow professionally.
The Opportunity We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented technologist who enjoys solving technical challenges and contributing to well-designed buildings. This role is ideal for someone who wants to take ownership of technical documentation , work closely with consultants, and continue developing their professional expertise within a supportive team.
You will work alongside experienced senior technologist, architects and designers while contributing to the production of high-quality construction documentation and technical detailing .
Responsibilities Prepare construction drawings and contract documents in Revit
Participate in technical detailing, specifications, and building envelope design
Coordinate with consultants and project team members
Assist with building code, bylaw review, and permitting submissions
Support projects through design, documentation, and construction phases
Qualifications 5+ years of relevant Canadian experience
Strong knowledge of Alberta Building Code and municipal bylaws
Experience with the City of Edmonton permitting process would be considered an asset
Knowledge of wood-frame construction, detailing, and building envelope systems
Strong attention to detail and technical documentation skills
AutoCAD and Sketch Up experience considered an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook & Teams , proficiency with Word & Excel nice to have
Canadian resident or Citizen currently residing in Alberta (applicants not meeting these criteria will not be considered)
