Job DescriptionVirginia Western Community College is hiring part-time Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) instructors to teach both classroom and skills lab sessions. Instructors will be based at the main campus in Roanoke, with possible remote work as needed. Classes are scheduled on weekday evenings and/or weekends.
Responsibilities- Teach students in classroom and skills lab settings to ensure they gain the knowledge and skills required to pass the National Health career Association (NHA) CCMA exam.
- Deliver the established course curriculum and set up lab equipment, ensuring lab safety.
- Monitor student progress, assess content mastery and skills proficiency, and maintain attendance and grades per established policies.
- Assist with content development and curriculum enhancement.
- Address classroom technical issues and troubleshoot as needed.
- Track equipment usage and inventory.
- Current CMA certification with a minimum of one year of experience performing CMA tasks.
- Expert‑level skills and knowledge required to pass the CCMA exam.
- Knowledge of local and regional health care facilities and systems.
- Detail‑oriented with ability to meet set deadlines.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to write syllabi and exams, develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Experience working with adult learners of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related field.
- Five years of work experience in clinical medical assisting, LPN, or RN field.
- Proven ability to provide instruction in accelerated formats geared toward certification exam preparation.
- Demonstrated track record of high student credential rates and institutional outcomes while delivering instruction in both classroom and lab environments.
- Experience teaching adult learners and familiarity with Canvas or similar Learning Management Systems.
