Leidos is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer who will work as a key contributor on electric transmission line design projects for high‑voltage overhead and underground systems.
The engineer will apply NESC, ASCE, ACI and other applicable standards to design electrical overhead and underground systems, voltage conversion projects, new capacity projects, and infrastructure replacement projects. Responsibilities also include engineering analyses, bidding documents, plans, specifications, material procurement, and construction documents. The role focuses on independent technical execution using tools such as PLS‑CADD and PLS‑POLE, and contributes to quality control.
Team environments and clients will involve project planning, environmental permitting, and construction management personnel.
Work LocationsIdeal candidates are located in Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey and can work hybrid schedules. Fully remote positions are available for qualified candidates. Relocation assistance is available for candidates relocating to commutable areas of Walled Lake, MI or Cranberry Township, PA.
The Challenge- Execute technical design and engineering tasks for high‑voltage transmission lines, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and calculations under guidance of Lead Engineers or Project Managers.
- Perform engineering analyses, including PLS‑CADD modeling and structure loading calculations.
- Contribute to the team’s continuous improvement goals by learning and applying new technical tools, AI, and automation platforms.
- Communicate and coordinate project progress with the Project Manager to maintain schedule and budget.
- Maintain strong technical proficiency in industry‑standard software and Leidos design processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or other engineering disciplines with at least 2 years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems.
- Experience using PLS‑CADD and PLS‑POLE.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with a focus on collaboration across client and project teams.
- Availability for client office work and periodic travel may be required.
- Experience with TOWER is a plus.
- EIT or PE certification is desirable.
- Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or Micro Station, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus.
Pay Range: $57,850.00 – $. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and is not a guarantee of compensation.
