R&D Senior Engineer

For our client, an international company based in Schaffhausen
, we are looking for a motivated, results-oriented, and highly skilled R&D Senior Engineer (m/f/d).

• Start: As soon as possible / By agreement
• Duration: 1 year
• Remote/Home Office: Hybrid – Onsite position with the option for up to 20% remote work.

• Product Engineering Excellence: Lead senior-level product engineering for high-performance miniature circuit breakers. This comprises conducting pre-studies, planning, evaluating, and developing key product features requiring broad technical engineering knowledge.
• Project Leadership & Coordination: Act as lead engineer or project manager to coordinate tasks within cross-functional teams. Investigate complex technical problems, develop innovative solutions, and prepare strategic recommendations.
• Technical & Business Analysis: Analyze both the technical and business aspects of proposed solutions to effectively support the corporate decision-making process.
• Innovation & Problem Solving: Fully contribute to successful technology and product development project outcomes by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions. Solve complex industrial problems using advanced tools and methodologies.
• Technology Lifecycle Management: Determine the most effective applications, equipment, and methods to develop, market, or manufacture new products/software, ensuring cost-effective responses to customer requirements.
• Expertise Maintenance: Maintain and expand recognized expertise in your specific specialist field through the external review and tracking of current, cutting‑edge technologies.

• Academic Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

  Experience:
  
  A minimum of 6 years of proven professional experience in a relevant engineering field.
• Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of low‑voltage products (mechanical and electrical systems), design of mechanical/electrical interfaces, plastic and metallic parts design, and manual/automated assembly processes.
• Design & Tools Mastery: Deep understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA). Highly proficient in CAD software (preferably Solid Works
  ) and MS Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project).
• Project & Supplier Management: Proven experience with Project Management methodologies, alongside a track record of working successfully with global suppliers, manufacturing plants, and international engineering resources.
• Mindset & Working Style: High degree of self‑motivation, a quick learner, and a results‑oriented approach with a positive, proactive attitude.

  Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English and German are highly preferred. Excellent English‑only speakers with the right technical background will also be considered.
