Our Professional Engineering Group, Rotating Machinery Division, Renewable Energy Services, Systems Integration Services, and Field Repair and local Repair Service Centers place Shermco in a position to handle all things electrical.

This position is remote with around 25% domestic travel expected. Shermco Systems Integration is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer, responsible for design, development, and implementation of control systems for various applications, ensuring efficient and safe operation by using automation, programming, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. This position includes programming and management aspects.

• Establish and maintain behaviors that demonstrate safety as a personal core value.
• Design, develop and implement control systems for various applications, including network architecture, cause and effect diagram, control philosophy for complete automation and process control systems.
• Utilize knowledge of control theory, automation and programming to create efficient and reliable systems.
• Program and configure PLCs, HMIs and other control devices.
• Develop and implement control algorithms and software.
• Utilize graphical programming languages such as Ladder Logic and Function Block Diagram.
• Test and validate control systems to ensure they meet performance requirements.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose control system issues.
• Implement solutions to improve system performance and reliability.
• Install, configure, and test software systems on‑site, ensuring they function according to specifications and customer needs, often collaborating with other specialists and clients.
• Evaluate system performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Implement solutions to increase production efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, project managers and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
• Ensure control systems are designed and implemented in a safe manner.
• May be responsible for implementing safety protocols and procedures.

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in control systems and startup/commissioning.
• Management experience.
• Strong understanding of control theory, automation, and programming, with the ability to identify, analyze and solve complex technical problems while paying close attention to detail, ensuring accuracy.
• Experience with low voltage controls.
• Clear and effective communication in English, both verbal and written, and ability to communicate directly to customers and co-workers.
• Ability to work safely, and eagerness to contribute to a safety‑focused team.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills, proficiency in using computer‑aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools, and experience with pipeline and/or oil and gas processing considered a plus.
