Overview
Be a Driving Force in Central Texas Transportation! Freese and Nichols is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Project Manager to shape the future of transportation in Central Texas. This hybrid role blends transportation planning and traffic engineering with project management and business development; candidates may work in Austin or San Antonio, TX, working with clients such as TxDOT, counties, and municipalities across the state.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage transportation planning and traffic projects, including client communication, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and quality.
- Apply expertise in transportation planning, multimodal mobility, and traffic analysis/design to support a wide variety of projects.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and guide the next generation of transportation professionals.
- Contribute to the expansion of the transportation practice by assisting in business development activities, networking, and helping win new projects.
- Support facilitation of public meetings, workshops, and presentations to City Councils and stakeholders.
- Develop high-quality reports, technical memoranda, and visually compelling documents to communicate results.
- Build client relationships, act as a trusted advisor, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Civil/Traffic Engineering, or related field.
- AICP Certification.
- 6+ years in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering, with at least 2 years in project management.
- Experience in multimodal planning, corridor/special area studies, access management, parking, and active transportation.
- Experience in operational analysis, traffic studies, and design support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GIS (preferred), GIS mapping, and traffic/transportation modeling tools (Synchro, VISSIM, or similar).
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Preferred Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering or related field.
- Prior consulting or municipal/DOT experience.
- Familiarity with TxDOT processes and design requirements.
- PE License.
- Experience in marketing, client development, and proposal preparation.
- Paid overtime for salaried employees.
