Job Overview
Senior Civil Engineer responsible for maintaining and enhancing public fishing and boating facilities owned and managed by the Fish & Boat Commission. The role combines office planning with field work at lakes and access areas, often outdoors in diverse and scenic locations.
Responsibilities- Prepare and review complex engineering plans, investigations, studies, and designs where established guidelines may be limited and professional judgment is required.
- Conduct inspections of the 34 Commission‑owned high‑hazard dams and prepare maintenance plans and detailed reports for Department of Environmental Protection Dam Safety.
- Coordinate outlet works inspections and assist in evaluating and prioritizing repair efforts.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Commission’s 20 capital dam construction projects in planning, design, or construction.
- Design or lead flood protection and water control projects, performing advanced hydraulic and structural calculations for spillways, control works, and pumping stations.
- Deliver cost‑effective planning, design, permitting, project management, construction oversight, and technical support for capital projects at facilities such as dams, levees, hatcheries, marinas, fishing access sites, water and wastewater systems, stormwater structures, roads, bridges, and parking areas.
- Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate ... or
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or related discipline ... or
- Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Full‑time employment with hours 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- Possibility of flexible scheduling and rare emergencies outside work hours.
- Telework: part‑time opportunity to work from home; requires securely configured high‑speed internet and an approved location within Pennsylvania. Telework possibility may change at any time.
- Salary: starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
