Job Summary
The Estimator (Data Center focused) supports the sales and projects staff in developing design and engineering solutions for sales opportunities, maintains accurate estimates, and assists in day‑to‑day sales and project activities. This remote position requires strong estimating expertise in fiber/copper, basket tray/ladder rack and related data center infrastructure.
Job Duties And Responsibilities- Provide complete project engineering, select applicable materials, and estimate labor.
- Write scopes of work and develop cost estimates in response to bid specifications.
- Attend site walks and pre‑bid meetings, track all visits and document site conditions for accurate costing.
- Act as liaison between sales, project management, and operations during installation hand‑offs, ensuring price alignment.
- Follow company vendor guidelines, negotiate best solutions, prices, and lead times.
- Provide accurate takeoffs and cost estimates using the company’s solutions book and technical support.
- Ensure estimating work meets customer and company quality and safety standards.
- Attend training and review sessions on technical requirements per company guidelines.
- Meet bid schedules and deadlines within strict time frames.
- Attend and complete job turnover meetings as required to cover all project details and expectations.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

- Experienced in interpreting blueprints and project documents, including specifications and quality requirements.
- Willingness to travel within branch or regional territory as needed.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/estimates with high organization.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. - Minimum five years of customer interface experience.
- RCDD and/or DCDC preferred;
Cisco certifications preferred. - Experience in Structured Cabling industry preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
- Must meet company minimum driving standards.
- Ability to design, engineer, estimate, and develop written and graphic representations of solutions.
- Knowledge of Layer 1 network architecture, MMR/Carrier experience, data center network fundamentals, switch/router architecture, and network distribution design/architecture.
