LOCATION: Ottawa, ON (CMO)
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Enhanced Reliability
REPORTS TO: Manager, Sustainment
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, 1 year Term contract
Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities- Supports the Controller and cross-functional teams in the development and updating of budgets, forecasts, business plans, and financial models; performs detailed budget-to-actual analysis.
- Partners with Cost Centre Managers to provide financial insights and support spending reviews, ensuring a thorough understanding of expenses and proper cost allocation.
- Prepares and maintains cash flow statements and relevant projections.
- Prepares month‑end working papers, account analysis and reconciliations, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of discrepancies in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Contributes to the production and submission of month‑end and year‑end consolidated financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
- Participates in other month‑end closing activities as required, including Project Accounting, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable.
- Supports the annual financial statement audit and government audits.
- Assists in preparation and submission of corporate tax schedules and various government regulatory reporting.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
- College or university degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce and/or related field is preferred.
Certification:
- Pursuing a Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation is considered an asset.
Experience:
- Five years of related accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience at an intermediate level.
Knowledge:
- Requires a thorough understanding of general accounting principles and its application to contractual requirements. Familiarity with Oracle EBS applications will be considered an asset.
- Proficient in the use of Office 365 including MS Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including:
- Pivot Tables, filtering, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIF/SUMIFS, data formatting
- Ability to manipulate and work efficiently with large volumes of data
- Ability to interpret financial data in a meaningful way.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills where discretion and tact are essential when dealing with Senior Management staff and visitors.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize job requests and pivot between competing tasks.
- Strong account reconciliation skills, including the ability to prepare, review, and analyze reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Experience with Oracle EBS is considered an asset.
- Ability to seek out and suggest efficiencies within the finance team.
- Ability to understand and explain financial information including variances.
