Remote full‑time position with base pay $16.49–$26.39 hourly (estimated $32k–$52k annually). Eligible for a quarterly bonus.
The position requires a CPC‑A certificate from AAPC. Medical records or clerical experience in a medical setting is preferred but not required. A healthcare background is a plus.
Responsibilities- Obtain medical records documentation needed for coding from USAP partner facilities via EMR systems or communication with facilities (eFax, email, phone).
- Run detailed reports from charge capture/coding platforms for KPI monitoring and process improvement.
- Enter data into Excel tracking workbooks and prepare reports for aging and KPI for coding leadership.
- Prepare data worksheets for coding reviews and communicate daily assignments with vendor partners.
- Assist with maintenance of team playbooks (SOPs/Pathways).
- Interact with and respond to physician coding documentation deficiencies, monitor and track clinician responses, and provide feedback to Coding Quality and Education.
- Process post‑op pain rounding visits and perform entry‑level coding (post prospective audit).
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures – especially HIPAA and confidentiality.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- CPC‑A or CPC with limited anesthesia experience, RHIT eligible or newly credentialed.
- Minimal coding experience with basic understanding of documentation guidelines.
- Ability to self‑motivate and initiate projects, and work independently under direction of team lead or supervisor.
- Complete projects in a timely manner.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Typing speed of 50 words per minute.
- Excellent communication skills with all levels of USAP employees and vendors.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Occasional standing, walking, frequent sitting.
- Frequent hand/finger movement, use of office equipment.
- Communicate verbally and in writing.
