The Clinical Research Data Analyst supports biomedical and translational research through the extraction, integration, analysis, and management of complex clinical and research data. This position works closely with researchers, clinicians, data teams, and institutional stakeholders to translate research questions into actionable data solutions using electronic health record (EHR) and related healthcare data sources.

The successful candidate will serve as a key contributor supporting the Enterprise Data Warehouse for Research (EDW4R) and other research data platforms. Responsibilities include data querying, cohort identification, data validation, data integration, reporting, and support for research data workflows. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary research environments.

This role is not entry level and requires prior experience working with healthcare or biomedical data, including familiarity with EHR systems and healthcare data structures. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, collaborative, adaptable, and capable of independently solving complex data problems in support of clinical and translational research initiatives.

Duties to include but not limited to:

* Utilize SQL and related database technologies to extract, transform, validate, and analyze clinical and research data from the Enterprise Data Warehouse for Research (EDW4R) and related systems

* Collaborate with researchers and project teams to define data requirements, cohort criteria, and reporting specifications

* Develop and maintain reports, queries, dashboards, and supporting documentation for research and operational needs

* Create and maintain database objects, forms, extracts, and reporting workflows supporting research initiatives

* Review and interpret database specifications, data models, and research data requirements

* Participate in data modeling and metadata management activities related to clinical and research datasets

* Provide analysis, design, implementation, and operational support for research data and reporting solutions

* Develop and maintain programmatic solutions and automation workflows supporting research data operations

* Provide technical and operational support for research data and associated workflows

* Support routine database administration activities, including review, validation, and security processes

* Follow established core practices and processes.

* Coordinate and provide support on activities across multiple concurrent projects and priorities

The Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS) at the University of Iowa was approved by the Iowa Board of Regents in 2007 to support the work of investigators involved in clinical and translational science. Our mission is to accelerate translational science through programs to develop the translational workforce, to promote engagement of community members and other stakeholders, to promote research integration across the lifespan, and to catalyze innovative clinical and translational research.

These efforts will lead to the development of novel therapies and healthcare delivery strategies, the integration of translational research and clinical practice, and, ultimately to measurable improvements in the health of Iowa and the nation.

Hybrid within Iowa:
This position is eligible for a combination of on-campus and remote work. Remote work must be performed within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
