Responsibilities
  • Interpret court events in simultaneous, consecutive, and sight modes, on site, telephonically, or virtually, in accordance with the Code of Conduct and other requirements.
  • Translate signage and vicinage documents as requested.
  • Assist with contracting freelance interpreters and processing of vouchers, statistical reports, TIVD, ADA Accommodations, and other tasks requested by supervisor.
Remote Work

The Judiciary offers a hybrid schedule; the position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. Applicants must have high‑speed home internet and a multifactor authentication app.

Qualifications

Bilingual in English and Spanish, able to interpret in sight, consecutive, and simultaneous modes in court proceedings, quasi‑judicial hearings, complementary dispute resolution events, and other court‑related events.

Must be court interpreters approved by the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) with required certificates or exams.

Requires passing a translation test administered by the AOC; possessing a valid New Jersey driver's license only if vehicle operation is essential.

Authorized to work in the U.S. under DHS/USCIS regulations; U.S. citizenship not required.

New hires must agree to a thorough background check including fingerprinting; data kept confidential.

Newly hired employees within one year must establish and maintain principal residence in NJ, with possible exemption on hardship or employer critical need.
