Location: Detroit Metropolitan Area, Michigan
Employment Type: Full-Time
Competitive Compensation: Compensation will be on a per inspection basis. Pay will be based on the complexity of the inspection.
National Real Estate Management Group is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Licensed Property Inspector to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in protecting our investment assets, ensuring quality standards, and providing clear property condition insights for our property management and investor operations. If you are a licensed inspector with strong observational skills and a passion for accuracy, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities- Conduct property inspections across the Metro Detroit area, including:
- Move-in / move-out inspections in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Occupied and vacant property condition inspections
- Pre-acquisition investor inspections
- Renovation progress inspections (as needed)
- Prepare clear, accurate reports with photos, notes, and defect summaries using company software.
- Identify safety hazards, code issues, deferred maintenance, and repair needs.
- Verify contractor and vendor work aligns with scopes, quality expectations, and company standards.
- Communicate findings effectively with construction, property management, and investor teams.
- Recommend corrective action or repair solutions when appropriate.
- Maintain consistent scheduling and timely completion of assigned inspections.
- Travel throughout the Detroit metro area daily.
- Active Michigan Home Inspector License (required).
- Experience performing residential inspections, property assessments, or related inspection duties.
- Strong understanding of residential building systems (electrical, HVAC, roofing, plumbing, foundation, structure).
- Ability to identify defects, hazards, and substandard workmanship.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and photography skills.
- Ability to read inspection software, checklists, and reports comfortably.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in the field.
- ASHI or Inter
NACHI certification. - Experience in property management inspection workflows.
- Trade background (carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, roofing).
- Familiarity with Detroit housing stock or investor-driven renovations.
- Growing real estate management and investment company with a large Detroit portfolio.
- Consistent inspection volume — no need to self-generate leads.
