Job Summary
The Research Technician will work within the Texas Biomedical Device Center, supporting active projects in Larynx Lab by providing technical assistance and assigned duties for various research projects.
Minimum Education and ExperienceRequires High School graduation or equivalent and six months of experience in scientific research work. Working knowledge of the various types of equipment in use in the laboratory to which assigned. Extreme accuracy in preparing materials and recording data. Normal laboratory conditions. Sometimes requires working with hazardous equipment and materials or in hazardous environments.
Other QualificationsTo the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data to provide needed information to principal investigators and other researchers.
- Consults supervisor about procedures to be employed in experiments.
- Updates notebooks, records and performs data entry on databases as needed.
- Performs some highly technical laboratory procedures.
- Participates in regular meetings with other Center researchers and creates and maintains constructive collaborations with outside researchers.
Laboratory environment requiring specific lab safety training. Possible usage of PPE.
