New Business Development Sales Representative (Consumer Business Group)

Mers around the world. This role is focused on selling and marketing 3M’s consumer chemistry brands to new channels and markets, driving accelerated sales growth through entrepreneurial account development, and coordinating efforts across business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Sell & market 3M CBG brands (Scotch®, Scotch Blue™, Post‑it®, Command™, Filtrete™, 3M Safety Products, Scotchbrite®, Scotchgard™, Bondo®, Meguiar’s®, Ace™, Futuro™, & Nexcare™) into new channels and markets.
- Identify and onboard new accounts, generating business that accelerates sales growth.
- Coordinate new‑business development efforts with Sales Management, Portfolio Teams, Shopper Marketing, Sales Operations, Finance, Business Analytics, and Supply Chain.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, using a top‑down, bottom‑up, inside‑out approach.
- Manage sales estimates, MDF, rebates, claims, and travel budgets.
- Interpret industry trends and customer requirements to define guidelines for achieving sales targets.
- Drive company vehicle use where required, ensuring pre‑employment and ongoing motor‑vehicle history reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Minimum five years of sales experience with account management responsibility in a retail, private, public, government, or military environment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently, think strategically, and make data‑driven business decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal & presentation abilities.
- Self‑starter with a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a history of going the extra mile.
- Experience with digital marketing tactics, e‑commerce, AI, national key accounts, brokers, distributors, wholesalers, and dealer‑centric tools.
- Technical proficiency with Salesforce, Power BI, Salsify, Workday, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated negotiation and strategic‑planning capabilities.
- MBA or advanced business education is an advantage.
- Retail knowledge is an advantage.
- Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment.
Work Location and Travel
- On‑site work at 3M Center, Maplewood, MN, at least four days per week.
- Possibility for remote work if located more than 50 miles from 3M Global Headquarters, but on‑site requirements apply for those within commuting distance.
- Travel up to 50% domestic/international may be required.
- Relocation may be authorized.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation range (USD): $142,479 - $174,141 (base pay plus variable incentive). Benefits include Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability & Life Insurance, Paid Absences, Retirement Plans, and other voluntary benefits.
