Job Overview
Position: Security Officer
Location: Mattel’s global headquarters, El Segundo, CA (On-site, includes weekend and holiday work).
Work type: Fully on‑site; remote work not permitted.
Shift & AvailabilityMonday‑Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required; schedule varies with business needs.
Responsibilities- Support Mattel’s Global Security Strategy by providing exceptional customer service and applying policies and practices consistently.
- Enforce Global Security policies to create a safe environment for employees and visitors.
- Carry out security duties as outlined in the Contingency Operations and SOP manuals under direction of Security Leader/Shift Supervisor and Security Manager.
- Conduct patrols on foot, vehicle, and electronically to monitor campuses for physical security, safety and facilities issues; monitor access control, CCTV, and guard‑tour systems.
- Monitor fire control panel for alarms, report equipment problems to Facilities.
- Perform administrative data entry for incident documentation and communications via Microsoft Office.
- Enforce access‑control standards: employee badge policy, visitor registration, temporary/contract worker check‑ins, and intern badging.
- Ensure parking lot safety through traffic control, parking rule enforcement, accident investigations, and emergency call‑box responses.
- Support IP confidentiality and controlled destruction process per Mattel standards.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Accept flexible scheduling across multiple shifts to support business needs.
- One year or more of experience in security, asset protection, loss prevention, law enforcement, or military (preferred).
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- Valid driver’s license (required).
- Valid Security Guard License, where required (required).
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, Blood‑borne Pathogens, or willingness to obtain via company training.
- Effective communication with the public and all organizational levels through various platforms.
- Analytical and critical‑thinking skills; ability to make clear, well‑reasoned decisions.
- Calm, confidential, and composed during emergencies or stressful situations.
- Basic PC and software knowledge (MS Windows, Microsoft Office, CCTV, access control) is a plus.
- Flexible to work nights, holidays, weekends.
- Reading, analyzing, and interpreting policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Writing detailed incident reports and business correspondence.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Outdoor assignments may involve extreme heat, humidity, cold, severe weather.
- Use of post‑security equipment such as handheld metal detectors, radios, access‑control and CCTV systems.
