Role DescriptionEngineering Manager to lead our Treasury pod. Directly responsible for delivering world‑class financial infrastructure to nonprofit users, maturing engineering practices, and growing a team of skilled engineers. Hands‑on engineering, shipping code, reviewing PRs, making architectural decisions, monitoring systems, and participating in incidents.

- Experience building financial products and a deep understanding of money movement, compliance, and financial infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the VP of Engineering to develop and execute the Treasury engineering strategy.
- Lead, manage, and mentor a talented team of full‑stack engineers building Givebutter Wallet features, payment tools, and financial dashboards.
- Own the Treasury engineering function, setting technical direction and ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Drive the development of same‑day ACH transfer tools, card issuing systems, and Quick Books integration that help nonprofits move money faster.
- Build and maintain financial infrastructure that enables nonprofits to earn rewards on their funds and put money to work faster.
- Bring technical expertise to the evolution of Givebutter’s financial systems; ensure architecture and stack are optimized for security, reliability, and growth.
- Improve internal engineering workflows, continually refining best practices.
- Champion code quality across the team and uphold a high standard for maintainable and scalable solutions.
- Evaluate and apply AI and machine learning tools to drive innovation in financial product development.
- 7+ years of experience in full‑stack development with expertise in modern web technologies (e.g., React, JavaScript, Type Script, PHP/Laravel).
- Hands‑on experience designing and building scalable financial or fintech systems, ideally including payment processing, ACH, card issuing, or accounting integrations.
- At least 2+ years of experience managing a team of 5+ engineers.
- Strong understanding of financial compliance, security requirements, and data integrity in regulated environments.
- Proven experience in people management, mentorship, and clear communication.
- Demonstrated success in hiring and developing remote engineering teams.
- Experience in a product‑led growth environment is a strong plus.
