Well Tech Partners is partnering with a high-performing Ambulatory Surgery Center in Houston, TX to hire an experienced Clinical OR RN Circulator. This opportunity is ideal for a strong perioperative RN who thrives in fast-paced surgical environments, works independently, and is passionate about delivering safe, high-quality patient care across multiple surgical specialties.
This is not a passive nursing role. The ideal candidate is confident managing room setup, intraoperative patient care, surgical coordination, and room turnover independently while maintaining efficiency, sterile technique, and excellent communication with the surgical team.
Position OverviewAs the Clinical OR RN Circulator, you will provide safe, effective, and high-quality perioperative nursing care within the Operating Room across multiple specialties. This role is responsible for circulating duties, patient safety, room preparation, intraoperative coordination, and maintaining efficient surgical workflow throughout the day.
The RN Circulator works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and perioperative staff to optimize patient outcomes and support operational excellence within the surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities Perioperative Nursing & Surgical Support- Perform circulating duties for a variety of surgical procedures across multiple specialties
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Maintain a safe and sterile surgical environment in accordance with AORN standards and facility policies
- Participate in surgical time-outs and ensure patient safety protocols are consistently followed
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical team members throughout procedures
- Anticipate surgical team needs and coordinate resources efficiently during cases
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping procedures safely
- Handle specimens according to policy while ensuring accurate labeling and documentation
- Independently set up operating rooms according to procedure type and surgeon preference cards
- Ensure all equipment, instruments, implants, and supplies are available and functioning prior to case start
- Perform efficient room turnover between surgical cases including:
- Cleaning and disinfecting operating rooms
- Restocking supplies and organizing equipment
- Preparing rooms quickly and accurately for upcoming procedures
- Maintain organized and clean work spaces throughout the shift
- Support efficient surgical workflow and case progression
- Maintain accurate and complete intraoperative nursing documentation
- Adhere to infection control standards, sterile technique, and universal precautions
- Ensure compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, AAAHC, and facility requirements as applicable
- Identify and report patient safety concerns, variances, or incidents appropriately
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and respond effectively during critical situations
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current, unrestricted RN license
- Minimum 2 years of total joint experience REQUIRED
- Minimum 2 years of multi-specialty OR circulating experience REQUIRED
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience
- Hospital OR experience
- CNOR certification
- Scrubbing experience strongly preferred
- Experience with orthopedic and total joint procedures
