The purpose of the Vactor Truck Operator position is to perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the maintenance of City infrastructure. The primary responsibility of this position is the safe and efficient operation of a Vactor truck. Duties include, but are not limited to, emptying septic tanks; cleaning sewer mains, manholes, and lift station wet wells as part of the City's preventive maintenance program for the wastewater collection system;

and performing hydro-excavation as needed. This position is also responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle in good working conditions, including routine greasing and cleaning, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent;
Valid Texas Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Tanker Endorsement required at the time of application;
Two to three years of experience as a Vactor Truck Operator preferred;
Must obtain a TCEQ Wastewater Collection I License within twelve (12) months of hire.

Special Requirements

Ability to safely operate heavy equipment;
Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance;
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade;
Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and preventive maintenance procedures.

Miscellaneous Information

Medical and dental insurance 100% paid by City for the employee;
City pays 90% of dependents medical (for base plan) and dental insurance with employee paying 10%;
Employee covered by $10,000 life insurance policy;
Retirement:
Texas Municipal Retirement System 2 to 1 match with employee contributing 7% and City 14%; 12 paid holidays; 15 annual sick days. After 1 year of employment, 2 weeks of paid vacation and earning longevity pay of $4.00 per month for each year of service. Educational and Certification Incentive Pay for those who qualify.
